R. A. L. Phillips
R.A.L. Phillips is a California native with a political science degree from UCLA. She grew up on a steady diet of science fiction, historical romance novels, and a boisterous, politically bent family – all of which is reflected in her debut novel; Rise of the Alien Queen. She admits that portions of the book mirror her own life, but denies that she ever bludgeoned anyone to death.
She has been a volunteer for the Sexual Assault Response Program of Lynchburg, a Court Appointed Special Advocate for the children of Los Angeles, and a voracious supporter of Suicide Awareness Voices of Education and the Me Too Movement.
Like the singer, Kesha - R.A.L. Phillips is waiting for her starship to come back for her.
Transplanted to the Ozarks, she lives with her husband, a variety of children, and a menagerie of rescued pets. Her hobbies include pickleball, karaoke, red wine, and the trolling of the many misogynists, racists and bigots who are ever-present on the internet. She is passionate about racial equality, LGBTQ rights and the empowerment of women everywhere.
“The sheer zaniness and personality of the main character drew me in. The protagonist is flawed but sympathetic, and her arc is explored in a really interesting way. The tongue-in-cheek tone also helps quite a bit to sell the story.”
